Former Liverpool Coach Urges Klopp To Avoid Selling This £30m Star

Liverpool’s Mamadou Sakho has been able to showcase his abilities on the pitch after finally moving away from the Reds and joining Crystal Palace on loan. The French defender has helped the Eagles to secure four clean sheets recently and was one of the best players in the 3-0 win over Arsenal.

Sakho was frozen from the Liverpool side at the start of the season due to disciplinary issues but with the Reds struggling for defenders, Klopp still didn’t play the Frenchman and only sent him out on loan in the winter window.

Even though Sakho has impressed, the Liverpool Echo claim

that the Reds will sell the defender for around £30 million. But former Reds coach Michael Beale believes that Klopp should give Sakho another chance.

“It is a shame what happened at Liverpool (falling out with Klopp),” Beale told Sky Sports. “Both parties have lost. Sakho is playing for a club that I think he is too good to play for. “

Everyone is looking for a left-footed centre half. If it is to be that he leaves Liverpool, he won’t be short of offers. He will likely move on.

“It will be sad if there cannot be some form of reconciliation, because I think Liverpool still need him. Jurgen felt he could go with other players. If Sakho was able to play against Sevilla in the Europa League final, Liverpool would have won. I am sure of that. That would have changed the whole course of things at Liverpool; they would have been in the Champions League, extra revenue, attract better players etc. Maybe Klopp cannot forget that. I don’t know the ins and outs.”

Beale had worked with Sakho earlier in the season when the Frenchman was playing in the reserve side and lauded Sakho’s work ethic, even though that was in question from Klopp at the start of the season.

“He was never, ever late, and he worked his socks off. He could not have been a better professional. You are seeing the results of that work now at Palace.

“We built a really good relationship, and he texted me when he joined Palace, obviously pleased to have made the move. For a team like Crystal Palace, he is a godsend. He is not usually someone they could afford, or even pay that sort of salary. He is inspirational to others around him. He is one of those guys who just walks into a dressing room and has a presence, you know they are there.”

Judging by his performances with Palace, one would feel that Sakho is deserving of another shot with Liverpool, but it is highly unlikely that Klopp will offer a way back to the Frenchman.
