Liverpool Transfer Round-up: Transfer Records To Be Broken, Reds Target Signs Contract Deal, Update On Triple Target From Bundesliga Club

Liverpool Transfer Roundup

With a lot of speculation going around on the internet, linking Liverpool with a host of new players, many of those seem to be baseless and illogical. There are only very few trustworthy sources that report logical news and we managed to gather few such news about Liverpool’s activity in the transfer market.

Isco deal takes a blow

Spanish newspaper Marca have claimed that Liverpool’s approach for Real Madrid midfielder Isco has taken a blow after the Spaniard decided to extend his stay with the La Liga giants. It was earlier believed that the playmaker was evaluating his options elsewhere, before changing his mind to decide to extend his contract with Real Madrid.

The Reds were believed to be one of the clubs to have approached Isco over a potential transfer switch but now it seems to be over, as Madrid have convinced the player to stay with them.

Isco’s existing contract is set to expire next summer and with the playmaker receiving much less game time than what he deserves, it was widely expected that he would leave the Spanish capital in the summer.

Record transfer fee for the Dutchman

Liverpool Echo report that the Reds are ready to smash their transfer record (currently at £35 million spent on Andy Carroll) by spending £50 million for Southampton star Virgil van Dijk in the summer. Liverpool have faced defensive troubles this season and it looks like Klopp is keen on fixing the leaking pipe. While Matip has performed admirably for Liverpool, the other two defenders – Dejan Lovren and Ragnar Klavan have not managed to claim the other centre-back spot and this has prompted the German manager to plunge into the transfer market.

The centre-half is undoubtedly one of the best in his position in the league but a transfer fee of £50million seems a bit excessive. Nevertheless, if Klopp feels that the amount is worth it, then there would be less necessity to doubt the number.

A host of players including Lovren, Clyne, and Lallana have made the switch from Southampton to Liverpool and Van Dijk would follow in their footsteps if he joins the Anfield outfit.

Schalke respond to rumours

FC Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel has denied the speculation linking Sead Kolasinac, Max Meyer and Leon Goretzka to Liverpool, saying that he is not aware of any such enquiries from Liverpool. He claims (h/t Daily Express

) that he has no idea if Liverpool scouts are monitoring the players.

He said via RevierSport: “I happen to know some guy in Liverpool quite well. Jurgen and I have such a good relationship that I have always been in the loop on everything. This time I do not know anything. That means the English media knows nothing either. I do not know who the Liverpool scouts are monitoring. Not even Klopp always knows what they are up to.”

Kolasinac’s contract is set to expire in the summer and he is yet to sign a new deal with the German club. Matip was the last player who joined Liverpool from Schalke and the relationship between the two clubs appear to be good.
