Reliable Journalist Gives Out Player Names And Transfer Budget For Liverpool’s Summer – £120m/£130m To Be Spent

Liverpool’s top four destiny is in their hands as maximum points from their two final games will ensure at least a qualifying round tie for the Reds. The Merseyside club should have sealed their top four place early on in the season but a number of poor performances, due to a lack of quality players has still kept the door open for Arsenal to make it to the top four.

With no spending done in the winter window, there were many who blamed Jurgen Klopp for not strengthening the side but it seems the German is going to break a few records in the summer and will set a record transfer spend for the Reds.

That is according to Liverpool Echo journalist, James Pearce. In a Q+A session

on Liverpool’s sub-reddit, he expected Klopp to spend close to £130 million to overhaul the squad. He wrote:

“I just think so much depends on LFC qualifying for the Champions League. I’d say Van Dijk and Keita are Klopp’s top two targets so getting them both would go a long way towards making this summer window a big success, but getting those deals done won’t be easy.”

“There’s certainly a realisation from FSG that the squad needs strengthening with established talent.

“I’d expect it to be the biggest spending spree in the club’s history. How much? My guess would be around £120million/£130million but that figure would include sales. A dominant CB, a new left-back, a dynamic CM and a top class striker are needed.”

Pearce also added that the two main targets for the Reds in the summer are Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk.

The duo would be great additions to any side in the Premier League but the Reds will have to spend big if they are to sign the defensive options.

That is one region where the Reds have struggled this season and if they can plug the leak at the back, Liverpool could perform much better.

Signing the players will have to depend on making it to the top four. Should they achieve the target, the players could find Anfield a viable option to play in next season, otherwise, Liverpool would have to look at other options in the summer.
