Chief Football Correspondent – Klopp Has Shortlisted 5 Names For Summer Transfers Including This Bundesliga Duo

Liverpool’s chase for the Bundesliga duo of Timo Werner and Naby Keita is certainly hitting top gear as another football writer has suggested that the Merseyside club are set to go all out for the RB Leipzig stars.

The Independent’s chief football correspondent Miguel Delaney shared a report that the two players are part of a five-man target list for Klopp with Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon as the top target. Andrew Robertson from Hull City and Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk completes the list.

Timo Werner has had a breakout season for the Bundesliga side with 21 goals in all competitions this season and the report claims that Daniel Sturridge will be sold in the summer with the German replacing the Englishman.

While Sturridge certainly came up with a great performance at the London Stadium, his injuries are a frustration and have hampered his career at the club. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Klopp sells him the first chance he gets in the summer window, to be honest.

We need someone who can play regularly as the attacker and a fit striker, who fits into Klopp’s philosophy, is our number one requirement for the attack.

Keita is a player in the mould of N’Golo Kante; however, the Guinea star can also score a few goals from his deep playing position in midfield. The 22-year-old has scored eight times and has provided seven assists in the Bundesliga, which is a great return.

We have desperately lacked a player who can control the midfield well, especially with the injury concerns to Jordan Henderson this season. Keita does add a lot of bite to the attack and would be a great fit under Klopp.

A Lucas Leiva sized gap would have to be filled as well since the Brazilian is close to leaving Anfield and Keita could be the missing piece in a midfield that doesn’t dominate enough. But there has been a lot of talk about players joining in the past and not ending up at the club.

Until something concrete comes up from Klopp or the players in question, we will have to wait and watch how things play out.
