Done Deal – €25m Belgian Midfielder Wanted By Klopp Agrees Transfer To Move To Ligue 1 Champions Monaco In The Summer

The Ligue1 champions Monaco have stolen a march as they seem to have signed one of the brightest talents from Belgian football. The club from the Principality have secured the services of Youri Tielemans according to Le 10 sport.

Calcio Mercato

carries a report claiming that Monaco have agreed to purchase the 19-year-old midfielder for a fee of just €25million which could rise further based on his performances.

This is a little important for Liverpool fans as we were interested in bringing the talented player to Anfield and the likes of Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and even Everton (yes, them) wanted to sign Tielemans up.

It is true that he would have been a coup had we pulled off the deal but the Belgian hasn’t played in a top-level European league and maybe moving to a side like Monaco, who are playing a great brand of football with a relatively young side, is the right decision for him.

It was a surety that the 19-year-old would leave Anderlecht this season with agent Didier Schyns recently speaking to Le Phoceen and admitting that Monaco is an option the midfielder would consider if he was to move.

“I know that Atletico and especially Dortmund have been interested in him for a number of years, but his priority is to go to a mid-level club before going to an elite one. He wants to be a starter. Clubs like Marseille, Lyon or Monaco are likely to interest him, he’d play there”.

That bit should give an idea of what Tielemans wants to do. Instead of moving to a big club, like ours, and then struggling to make an impact, moving step by step to an elite team makes more sense.

We might not have captured his signature now, but Tielemans does have a bright future and don’t be surprised if he does come into the radar again in a few years.

Do you think it is okay to miss out on signing Tielemans?
