The Kylian Mbappe rumours are still doing the rounds and now there is more “news” of another Monaco star who has been closely watched by Liverpool in recent weeks.

Tiemoue Bakayoko, who has been great at the heart of the midfield for the Ligue1 champions, has suggested that he is willing to move to England. That is great news not only for us but a couple of other clubs according to L’Equipe.

Last week RMC carried a report that Liverpool have expressed an interest to sign Bakayoko and have already held discussions with his representatives.

Now, Inside Futbol carries a report from the French outlet L’Equipe that also suggests that Paris Saint-Germain want to sign the Frenchman up. The Parisian side also met up with his representatives to complete the deal but they couldn’t convince the 22-year-old to switch sides.

Speaking to Canal+ (h/t Daily Express), the player said;

“I can’t leave Monaco to go to PSG. It’s impossible.

“I can’t leave for a club that finished behind us.

It isn’t a surprise that several Monaco players want to try their luck outside the country and Bakayoko has also been linked with a move to Manchester United and Chelsea.

The interesting aspect could be Champions League football and if we win our qualification round for the competition, there are every chances that the Monaco star would be interested in switching to Anfield.

The French midfielder could turn out to be another player in the vein of N’Golo Kante. Bakayoko could be a smart signing, seeing that he does want to move away from the country and isn’t afraid of plying his trade in England.

The Kop Times Verdict

A huge bid would be needed to bring the 22-year-old to Anfield and we do need a central midfielder who can put the tackle in and can control the tempo of the game.

Jordan Henderson has spent a number of months out injured and there does not seem to be a solution to this problem at the moment. Lucas Leiva is almost certain to leave the club and that really puts us in a bit of a pickle should we not sign someone in the summer.

Nevertheless, any deal for the Frenchman would involve a lot of negotiation as there are also a lot of other players in the Monaco squad who have been linked with exits. Surely, Monaco will play hardball in any potential negotiation.
