Liverpool Still Confident Of Securing £30 Million Deal For Defender Before The Window Shuts

Even though the sale of Mamadou Sakho has hit rough waters in recent weeks, Liverpool are confident that they will get £30million for the 27-year-old Frenchman.

Sakho has been a bit of a controversial figure since his move from Paris Saint-Germain. The French defender is still regarded as one of the best defenders we have but a series of disciplinary issues saw him fall out of favour with Jurgen Klopp.

The German manager didn’t even play the defender in any competition last season and Sakho was eventually sent on loan to Crystal Palace where he impressed.

The defender ensured that the Eagles remained in the Premier League and was the subject of a permanent move to London. However, the price tag has been an issue for the club and the Eagles are not willing to spend £30million for Sakho.

The Liverpool Echo, however, claims that the club have had a number of inquiries for the defender and are confident of selling him for the price they want. The 27-year-old does need to move away if he has any hopes of making it to the France squad for the 2018 World Cup, after missing out on the Euro 2016 team.

While we do believe that Sakho will leave the club, Liverpool are likely to get the amount that they want, as the 27-year-old has already held talks with Palace over a permanent deal.

Earlier this week, Michael Keane joined our rivals Everton for a similar fee, indicating the current situation of the transfer market. The market seems inflated already but Sakho could become the latest player to join Palace for a sizeable fee. The Londoners did sign Christian Benteke last season for a pretty decent amount and with Sakho actually performing well for them, it will not be a surprise if the deal is thrashed out in the coming weeks.

The 27-year-old has returned to Melwood to work on his fitness ahead of the new season but his stay at Merseyside will not be for long. Sakho still has a number of great years ahead of him but those won’t be in the Red of Liverpool.
