Klopp Could Finally Land £50m Summer Target As He Only Wants A Liverpool Move

The Virgil van Dijk transfer saga has taken yet another twist as the Mirror claims that the Dutch defender has made it clear that he only wants to join Liverpool and no other club in the window, which would see the Saints lose out on millions for the 26-year-old.

Southampton had reported us to the Premier League for tapping up the former Celtic man, which led us to back-off from our interest for him and we even published an apology

to the player, fans and the club.

With all that behind us, there have been reports that clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in the talented central defender. However, the latest remark from Van Dijk would have opened the doors again for a move to Anfield.

While the Saints have maintained that no player will be leaving in the summer, keeping a star defender who is not committed to the cause will only lead to more headaches for new manager Mauricio Pellegrino.

Van Dijk had left Celtic a few years ago to join Southampton and it seems he has his heart set on a big move to a Champions League playing side. With us finishing in the top four last season, we do have a qualifying round in the way before the group stages, but this was enough for Van Dijk to dream about joining us.

Jurgen Klopp and almost every Liverpool player had also stated that they would love to see Van Dijk join us ahead of next season. While the price point will be a big issue between the two sides, we should still be in prime position to wrap up a deal for Van Dijk before the window closes.

With Van Dijk clearly suggesting that he wants to move and play for us, there is no other club in the market that can sign him up and Southampton are in a bit of a squeeze given that they don’t want to miss out on close to £50 million for the sale of Van Dijk.

Things might just work out for us and Van Dijk joining us would solve the issue of not having quality central defenders ahead of another big campaign for Klopp and company.

It will be interesting to see just how quickly the deal might be wrapped up and there will surely be more twists and turns before the transfer window closes regarding the transfer of Van Dijk.
