Deal Close – Liverpool Getting Closer To 3rd Summer Signing As £8 Million Fee Is Agreed For 23-year Old

Liverpool are close to concluding the search for an Alberto Moreno replacement, as reports indicate that we have agreed a deal with Hull City for the transfer of Andy Robertson. Daily Mail reports that Liverpool are close to announcing the signing of the 23-year-old left back for a fee of around £8million.

It would be our third major acquisition of the summer after having brought in Dominic Solanke on a free transfer and Mohamed Salah for a club-record £36.9million

Liverpool fans have been growing frustrated about the lack of transfer activity from the club, especially as we prepare for a campaign with Champions League football. It is extremely important to have the strength in depth in order to cope with a huge number of games over the season.

One of the primary reasons for Jurgen Klopp’s team to finish in the top four was the lack of European football. Now, we may have to contend with at least two games a week throughout the season, especially with the campaign concluding early due to the World Cup.

James Milner was used as the left-back last season, as Moreno failed to win the confidence of Jurgen Klopp. However, it is likely that Milner will be slotted back to his favourite position in the middle of the park, as he is much more effective in such a role.

Liverpool have looked at several options in order to replace Moreno, with the club being linked with the likes of Theo Hernandez of Atletico Madrid and Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham. The former ended up joining with arch-rivals Real Madrid. This setback was a reason behind the Reds are rejecting a £11million offer from Napoli for the transfer of Moreno. It is expected that the Spaniard would be sold only if the club find a suitable replacement.

Robertson has been on the wish list of Liverpool for quite a while now, and Hull City going back to the Championship means that things became easier for us to make a move. Robertson is understood to be keen on a return to Premier League, and Hull City will not stand in his way – especially if we offer £8million.
