‘Bang average at best’ – Liverpool Fans Left Frustrated As Reds Close In On Surprise Signing

Liverpool are close to completing a deal for Andrew Robertson of Hull City for a fee of £8million, according to the Mirror. The 23-year-old Scot left the training camp for the Championship side in Portugal and is expected to seal a move to Anfield soon.

Robertson has been on our radar ever since Hull were relegated from the Premier League. Andy is primarily a left-back and is expected to slot into the first-team and replace James Milner, who should play more games in midfield this season.

At least, the Scot will be a better option than Alberto Moreno and with such a low price tag, it is a bit of a steal compared to some of the other deals taking place. Robertson didn’t really set the league on fire last time around but he was one of the more impressive players for the Tigers and hopefully, he can grow into a world-class player for us. Albeit, this is a surprise move by the club as the Hull defender is not the most decorated names out there.

While we have been linked with big names in the past to solve our left-back problem, an economical option isn’t the worst deal in the world.

The reaction from our supporters on Twitter was mixed, to say the least as some hailed the deal as a smart buy while others criticised the fact that we couldn’t get a better player.

Here are some of the reactions from Twitter, as the deal does seem to have split our fans:
