Agents Offer Liverpool’s Forgotten Man To Turkish Outfit – Club Interested In Completing Move

Lazar Markovic has become a forgotten man at Liverpool after coming to the club with plenty of expectation on his shoulders. Brendan Rodgers was the manager who signed the Serbian from Benfica in the summer of 2014.

However, he failed to make an impression at the club and has subsequently spent time on loan at various clubs like Fenerbahce, Sporting CP, and Hull City. It appears that Liverpool are ready to cut out the losses on the 23-year-old. Benfica reportedly showing plenty of interest in signing the winger, according toTurkish outlet Fanatik

.

It appears that the winger has been offered to various clubs across European football, but Besiktas have been on a spree to strengthen the squad. After having managed to win the league title ahead of Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, it is not surprising that Besiktas want to cement their position at the top of the Turkish league. Due to their involvement in the Champions League for the upcoming season, Besiktas are also aware of the need for a big squad in order to handle the domestic and European commitments.

Markovic was seen as a gamble when he came to the club, but the confidence shown by Rodgers seemed unwavering. In his first season at the club, he managed to make 34 appearances in all competitions but only scored 3 goals.

Surprisingly, he was sent out on loan the following campaign to Fenerbahce where he made 20 appearances in all competitions and scored two goals. His previous two loan spells at Sporting CP and Hull City have been uninspiring, as he has only managed to make 14 appearances at both clubs. As a result, Liverpool are struggling to find potential suitors for the 23-year-old.

The recent arrival of Mohamed Salah from Roma makes it almost impossible for Markovic to expect a place in the first-team squad. As a result, his opportunities will almost be negligible in the upcoming season – even with Liverpool being involved in the Champions League. Rather than send him out on loan for yet another season, Liverpool have made the decision to cash in on the player, who has a contract until 2019.
