(Not Keita) Liverpool Look Keen To Another Bundesliga Star Worth £16m – Chelsea Are Also In The Mix

Liverpool recently had a bid for RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita turned down, but he is understood to be one of the several players from Bundesliga, who is on the wish-list of manager Jurgen Klopp. One of the latest transfer targets for the club appears to be Werder Bremen forward Max Kruse.

We have been showing plenty of interest in signing the striker valued at £16million by the German outfit, but it is understood that Chelsea are also in the mix to sign the player – according to SportBild

. The 29-year-old provides a wealth of experience to any club wishing to sign him, but crucially, he offers the chance to act as a powerful backup to the likes of Philippe Coutinho.

Klopp is not ready to unsettle Coutinho by signing another top forward. This also seems to be on the mind of Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, who has sealed a £58million purchase of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

Max Kruse has been at Werder Bremen only for the last 12 months after making a €6million

switch from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2016. Last season, he managed to come up with 15 goals in 23 league appearances.

It is understood that Liverpool’s interest in Max Kruse is quite serious, even after the club have brought in the likes of Dominic Solanke and Mohamed Salah to strengthen the forward positions. Further signings are expected to come at the club in the next few days, as Andy Robertson is on the verge of a £10million move from Hull City. Even though RB Leipzig have rejected a £66million offer for Naby Keita, it is expected that Liverpool are going to come in with a second offer for the 22-year-old midfielder.

The return to Champions League coupled with the vast improvement in the Premier League TV money has improved Liverpool’s spending power substantially. However, club record signing Mohamed Salah is the most expensive acquisition made by the Reds, while Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea have spent upwards of £70million.
