Injury Boost As Date Set For Midfielder’s Return to Liverpool Amidst Exit Rumours

Liverpool fans will be able to witness Emre Can returning to the first-team setup this Sunday. The German international has been allowed an extended holiday due to his participation in the Confederations Cup. The lack of his availability at Anfield has been one of the reasons behind the intense rumours linking him with a move to Juventus.

The 23-year-old is out of contract next summer, and he has been subjected to interest from the Champions League finalists, who are reportedly ready to pay around €25million

Can has been one of the surprise packages for Liverpool since coming from Bayer Leverkusen a couple of years ago. He has quickly progressed into becoming one of the important players at the club, as managers have been able to exploit his versatility. Juventus were expecting to get the player for around €25million largely because he has only 12 months left on his contract. Yet, there have been recent reports that Can had agreed a new contract with Liverpool.

Earlier, his wages were thought to be a stumbling block behind a potential deal. Can was demanding around £100,000 per week, and it was well above the club’s strict wage structure.

The return of Can would come at a crucial time for Liverpool, as we have just begun of pre-season. We would be facing German outfit Hertha Berlin on July 29 before taking on Bayern Munich in the Audi Cup. Napoli and Atletico Madrid are also contenders in the Audi Cup.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool will benefit from less travel in the coming 2017-18 season. The team will obviously have to contend with the early start to the season due to the Champions League qualifiers, but it is expected to be dealt with by Klopp.
