Are Liverpool Planning To Life Without Coutinho? €25m Brazilian Attacker Linked With The Reds

Liverpool are clearly becoming concerned about the future of superstar Philippe Coutinho, and the Reds are ready to sign a potential replacement before the end of this transfer window. Inter Milan forward Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa has emerged as a potential player to replace Coutinho, according to Bleacher Report.

The 20-year-old is also from Brazil and he came to Inter from Santos for €25million

last summer. However, Inter Milan did not experience a lot of success from the player as he only managed 113 minutes of first-team football at the club. After having cost a substantial sum of money and failing to secure first-team football, it looks like Gabriel will have to search for first-team opportunities elsewhere.

This is primarily down to Inter Milan receiving a major round of investment from foreign owners, and the club are expected to go on a spending spree once the sale of Ivan Perisic and other players are completed. Gabriel may very well join the list of players leaving the San Siro this summer. At present, the club has been bogged down by financial fair play restrictions and these are expected to be dealt with by the sale of these two players.

It appears that Liverpool are ready to provide a repeat of Coutinho situation, as the Brazilian was signed from Inter Milan for just £8.5million, under the regime of Brendan Rodgers. Coutinho was seen as a major gamble back then but he has quickly established himself as one of the top players in the Premier league.

At the moment, he is being valued at more than £90million – representing a ten-fold profit for the club if he is sold to Barcelona. There have been reports about Barcelona agreeing on personal terms with the 25-year-old, who is being lined up as the replacement for Neymar (Sport), who is on the verge of a £196million move to French football, as Paris Saint-Germain are very keen on the Brazilian sensation (Standard

).

Jurgen Klopp strengthened the forward positions with the addition of Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke, but the general consensus is that Liverpool’s squad is not strong in several areas. The club prepares to get back into the Champions League and an extended squad is of paramount importance if we are to do well in the Premier League simultaneously.
