Contrary Reports Suggest That Liverpool Are Yet To Agree To A £109million Deal

The confusion about the future of Philippe Coutinho isn’t clearing up any second as sources outside England claim that the deal with Barcelona is being finalised and that the 25-year-old will become their latest signing. The Catalan giants want to replace their former star Neymar as quickly as possible after a £198million deal took the Brazilian to PSG and shocked the footballing world.

In news that will sound great to us, Melissa Reddy of Goal now claims that the 25-year-old’s move to Barcelona is in doubt as we have not held any talks with the side since rejecting their rather low £72million bid for Coutinho at the end of last month.

The report also claims that we are not willing to meet any Barcelona officials and have deemed that Coutinho is not on the market and that he will not leave Anfield this summer. This is in contrast to some reports claiming that the deal has been done with the Catalan side for £109million.

There have also been crazy reports of Coutinho training in protest against us as he tries to manufacture a move away to Spain but those have also been dismissed (Yahoo Sport

). Not selling Coutinho has been the stance of our manager since the start of the window and it seems like he will get his wish and keep hold of the mercurial Brazilian.

Losing Coutinho Would Be A Major Problem

Coutinho was one of our brightest players last season and losing him would have had a devastating effect on our team, close to the start of the Premier League season.

We would not have had time to find an able replacement and more importantly, we would be seen as a selling club. Barcelona have signed two players from us when they were in their prime (Luis Suarez and Javier Mascherano) and we cannot afford to lose Coutinho too.

Coutinho also signed a new deal with us in January. What we need to keep in mind is that the transfer window is still open for another three weeks and anything can still happen.

Hopefully, Klopp and FSG stand firm and ensure that our midfield gem does not leave for any price in the world, well, except if we can get both Lionel Messi and Suarez in a swap deal.
