£70m Liverpool Target Optimistic About Anfield Switch Amidst Interest From Several Other Clubs

Virgil van Dijk is a wanted man even though Southampton have said that the Dutch defender would not be leaving the club this summer. The former Celtic man is still a target for Liverpool while a couple of other Premier League clubs want to sign the 26-year-old.

The Independent claims that Van Dijk still hankers for a move to Anfield and we are set to smash our club record in signing one of the best central defenders in the league. However, Southampton do not want to do any business with us.

The Saints are still upset with the happenings earlier in the transfer window when we were accused of tapping the defender up. We had to apologise to the Saints, and it seemed like the deal was all but over.

Things do change quickly in football and it has been reported that we have made another bid for the defender. The Express also claims that Chelsea and Arsenal want to take advantage of the situation by lodging bids for the wantaway star.

Antonio Conte is reportedly a big fan of the defender and wants to use him in his 3-4-3 formation. Arsene Wenger, on the other hand, has had a tough time lately and needs to make a big signing or two, especially after the 4-0 thrashing that we gave them a few days ago.

While Southampton don’t want to sell their star, they might just have to, given that Van Dijk does not want to play for the Saints. He has been made to train away from the main squad and reintegrating him into the first team will be a tough task for Mauricio Pellegrino.

Whichever club does end up buying him, they would have to fork out at least £70million and that is a pretty hefty sum for a player that spent most of the second half of last season on the treatment table.

However, Jurgen Klopp does see something in the former Celtic man and we still are leading the race for the defender. It is set to be a mad couple of days before the transfer window closes and hopefully, we will get all the targets that have been linked with us.
