Celtic Boss Brendan Rodgers Claims He Feels More Pressure At His Current Club Than Liverpool

There are equal number of Liverpool fans that love Brendan Rodgers and hate him. The current Celtic manager brought us close to winning our first Premier League title but ultimately saw Manchester City pip us by two points.

Now enjoying his time at Celtic, the former Swansea manager was able to speak out about his time at Anfield. Rodgers claimed that managing Liverpool was draining and that he needed a break after he was sacked by FSG.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, the Northern Irishman said:

“When I came out of Liverpool, I needed a break.

“It was so intense. It was draining. We moved to London just to come away from it.”

Rodgers further commented that he did have a few offers from England and even China. But claimed that he is feeling the pressure now at the Scottish champions as well.

“I had offers from England and a couple from China where the money is very good, and that’s tempting for a boy from Northern Ireland.

“But I had come out of one of the biggest institutions in the world and I had to find that pressure again. I’ve got that now.

“With Liverpool, you can go away from home and draw and that’s okay. But Celtic, you have to win every game. It’s a different pressure.”

While the last statement might hurt the sentiments of many fans, it is a true one. Celtic are a powerhouse, possibly the only one in Scotland after Rangers’ failings and the Hoops are always under pressure to not only win the league by a mile but also make it to the Champions League group stages.

Rodgers, however, did have a few sweet memories with us and that unforgettable season during 2013-14 saw the side play some of their best football in recent years.

Luis Suarez was on fire that season and along with Daniel Sturridge, they ripped into defences but we fell agonisingly short. A failure to replicate that kind of form in the coming seasons saw Rodgers get the boot.

“I came as close as anyone there to the holy grail of winning the league,” he said.

“That season, with the fans, it was special.”

The Celtic manager came as close as anyone had ever to lifting the title and for that, we must be grateful. However, we now have a better manager in Jurgen Klopp and if we can get a few lucky breaks, who knows what titles the German will bring to Liverpool.
