‘If you put me in there, I’d score goals’ – This Lifelong Liverpool Fan Thinks He Can Win The Premier League For The Reds

Wycombe Wanderers’ striker Adebayo Akinfenwa believes that Liverpool are one striker away from winning the English Premier League and has appealed to manager Jurgen Klopp to sign him, according to Squawka.

The striker, known for his brute strength, is a lifelong Reds fan. He has scored four goals in four games for the League Two side this season and believes that Liverpool can do with his presence in the front line.

The centre-forward, who idolises club legend Steven Gerrard, told Squawka:

“I think we’re one striker away, I think we’ll be immense for the first half of the season and blow up a bit in the second half but I think we’ll challenge,”

The 35-year old striker believes that Klopp will turn Liverpool into title contenders next season if he can get Virgil van Dijk and one striker. He also jokingly indicated that Klopp should get him on the books.

“Next season, we will be contenders if we can get Virgil van Dijk and one striker. We’re close. Klopp should come and get me! If you put me in there and get some crosses in the box I’d score goals.”

Klopp has no dearth of fans. Wherever you go, there would be a handful of players ready to play under him. One of the reasons why Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ditched the advances of Chelsea and signed for Liverpool on the deadline day is his desire to work under Klopp.

Even Southampton defender Van Dijk, who has been pursued all through the summer by Liverpool, is a noted fan, and his desire to sign for Liverpool

was because of the presence of Klopp in the dugout. The lure of playing for Klopp and representing one of the most successful clubs in England is a deadly combo and the Reds should make the best use of it.

Liverpool have started the season very strongly, collecting seven points from the first three Premier League matches that included an emphatic 4-0 win over Arsenal before the international break.

Klopp is not without firepower up front, with the addition of Mohamed Salah, Dominic Solanke and Oxlade-Chamberlain in this transfer window doing enough to keep the attack ticking. We already have Roberto Firmino leading the line while Philippe Coutinho should get back to business after the international break.

Akinfenwa was cheeky about his availability and the need of an additional striker but he certainly is right about Van Dijk.

What’s your opinion on this?
