Top Investor Amanda Staveley Spotted Watching Liverpool As FSG Willing To Sell For £1billion

Liverpool might have played a horrible and a drab 1-1 draw against Newcastle United last week but the main talking point was in the stands, as a figure of power was spotted at St James’ Park.

Financier Amanda Staveley watched Jurgen Klopp’s side in action from the stands and the Mirror now reports that she might have a hand to play in a huge bid coming in for Liverpool.

Staveley has tried to help broker a deal to buy us a couple of times but has failed in all her attempts. The first time was in 2007 when she was working with a number of investors from Dubai and then last year she was a part of the team that tried to bring the Chinese group Everbright Limited into Anfield. However, all moves were rejected by our owners, FSG.

For those not in the know, Staveley runs PCP Capital Partners, which has funds worth more than £28 billion across the world. The power broker has had success in another football related bid as she helped the Abu Dhabi group purchase Manchester City in 2008 and she knows that FSG want to sell the club but only for a huge return on their initial investment.

FSG bought us from our previous American owners for £300 million after a long protracted battle, and now reportedly want close to £1 billion

.

A Serious Bid Or Another Waste Of Effort?

This is not the first time that we have been linked with a sale but FSG have consistently stated that the club is not for sale and that they are here for the long-run.

It has been claimed that FSG have not been spending crazy amounts of money in order to balance the books and sell Liverpool when the price is right. With the return of Champions League football and a world-class manager at the helm, we could be an attractive proposition for those who are willing to invest big time.

Then again, our owners have always said that we would be spending money when the time is right and that we did have a huge war-chest this summer. But they could not bring in the players that we wanted.

FSG have always ensured that we never spent beyond our means and with the books balanced quite well, there isn’t a lot of risks involved for our new owners.

Staveley has been also linked with a huge bid for Newcastle, to take the club out of the hands of Mike Ashley and maybe, she was at the ground to decide just which club she wants to broker a deal for.
