Key First Team Liverpool Star Hints About A Possible Exit: Feels Honoured To Receive Offers From Big Clubs

Liverpool’s German midfielder Emre Can confirmed that Serie A side Juventus were interested in signing him and has indicated that it is an honour to receive an offer from the Old Lady.

The midfielder is in the final year of his contract at Anfield and has put his talks of a new contract on hold. Not really on hold, because according to reports, it is because of a release clause that the talks aren’t progressing.

It was reported earlier in the summer that Can’s camp had insisted on a release clause for the player which the Anfield management isn’t willing to add. Manager Jurgen Klopp has already indicated that Can is an important player in his plans, but he isn’t willing to accept all the demands that the player’s camp has put forth.

Amidst all this confusion, Italian giants Juventus have made their interest in signing the youngster, public. Juventus chief executive Beppe Morata said that they made a bid for the 23-year-old in the summer but that the Reds rejected their offer.

The fact that he could leave for free next summer and is free to talk to non-Premier League clubs from January makes this scene very interesting. And, to make matters worse, here is the latest revelation from Can.

“It’s always an honour to receive an offer from such a renowned club,” Can told Kicker (h/t Mirror).

There is speculation in the market that Can has demanded wage parity with the club’s highest earners, together with the demand of a release clause. The entire impasse has overshadowed the progress Can has made under Klopp at the club.

Operating mainly as a box-to-box midfielder, the German youngster has thrived under Klopp and has become a crowd-favorite at Anfield. Without any concrete statement from the club or the player, the cloud of uncertainty over Can’s contract continues to hang over the club.

In this wake, is Can’s statement a sign of things to come? It is possible that Juventus might come back with a pre-contract offer in January. Unless something changes between now and then, it looks certain that the German midfielder go through the exit door.
