More bad News For Liverpool As Attacker Could Face Another Spell On The Sidelines

Sadio Mane is a doubt for Liverpool’s next game according to Jurgen Klopp. The Senegalese had just returned from a hamstring injury and he played the game against West Ham but it seems like the former Southampton man has hurt his hamstring again during national duty.

While Mane has not returned to Liverpool yet, he has been released from the national side as the team have made it to the World Cup. Their next qualifier game is only a dead rubber.

Klopp was speaking to the media and was quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying:

“Specifically on him returning to Melwood early to be with us; obviously it is a concern that the hamstring injury is again on the agenda and it will be critical for us to monitor and manage that in the coming days.

“At this stage we haven’t seen Sadio yet to properly assess the extent, but what is clear is that we will have to stay on top of this for the rest of the week and make sure we are careful in how we look after him.”

Klopp also added that Mane is an important player for both his club and country and both sides have been in regular communication regarding the player and how he should be taken care off.

“So, in this moment all I can really say with certainty is that we will assess Sadio as soon as he lands back in the country and make decisions on what rehab and treatment gives him the best chance of being back fit and strong for the important fixtures we have coming.”

A Big Blow For Liverpool If Mane Is Out

The extent of Mane’s injury is still not known but hopefully, it will not be as bad as the news sounds. We saw how brilliant the team can be when Mane and Mohamed Salah are firing on all cylinders as the pair tore West Ham to shreds before the international break.

Mane wasn’t even back to full speed when he played at the London Stadium and if he does get better and plays against his former club, it could lead to another rout with Salah already having been rested in this international break.

We would also have Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho back, so things look good for us and if we can keep a clean sheet against the Saints, this should be another three points to take us a little higher up the Premier League table.
