Liverpool Duo Eyed By New Sunderland Boss To Save Black Cats’ Season – Reports

Ben Woodburn

Chris Coleman has set his eyes on a couple of Liverpool players to help his Sunderland side avoid relegation from the Championship. The Black Cats have appointed Coleman after the Welshman resigned from the national team for the Dragons and it was a bit of a surprise that Coleman picked the Sunderland role when positions at Everton and now West Bromwich Albion are available.

A report from the Shield Gazette

claims that Coleman wants to link up with two Welsh players from Liverpool to save the sinking Sunderland ship.

Danny Ward is the first player that Coleman wants as the Liverpool keeper had broken into the senior team of the national side despite not being able to get into Klopp’s team. The keeper played a huge role on loan for Huddersfield as they won promotion to the Premier League but Jurgen Klopp wanted to keep him at Anfield. Ward has not played any Premier League or Champions League games.

The other player who Coleman wants is Ben Woodburn as the young winger hasn’t played a single minute for us this season. He could be the spark to save Sunderland’s season.

Danny Ward

A Good Move For All Sides

While we have rotated and played with different options up top and in goal, we should send the pair out on loan in the winter window as both the players need regular first-team action.

Ward might be the most consistent goalkeeper that we have and many fans preferred Ward to start in goal when we were in a bit of a sticky patch.

Woodburn, on the other hand, needs to play regularly and the best person to help his growth would be Coleman, as he has managed both players during their national games.

Sunderland are at rock bottom in the Championship and need all the help they can get. Maybe Coleman is the man to give them the lift they need. The former Fulham manager might not have coached a lot of Premier League sides but with the wave of positivity around him, Woodburn, Ward and Coleman can be the messiahs for the Black Cats.
