Liverpool could have sealed their place in the last 16 of the Champions League with a win at Sevilla but were frustrated after a 3-3 draw. The Reds stormed into a 3-0 lead at half-time thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane but as usual, we collapsed again in the second half, against the Spanish side.
Alberto Moreno was partly to blame for two goals before he was taken off and the La Liga side scored in the final minute of stoppage time to keep the group open. We now have to ensure that we avoid defeat against Spartak Moscow on gameweek 6 to make it to the last 16.
Jurgen Klopp certainly was not happy and he stated that the players felt they had won the tie at half-time. The German was also unhappy with the point and the Liverpool’s official website quoted him as saying:
“No. Before the game, and that’s maybe a strange thing, if you told me it would be a draw I would say, ‘OK, let me see the game first but it is not the worst result’ – but then when you then play that first half then you want to win, of course.”
The Reds will prepare for their next game against Chelsea, which is on Saturday but the draw did feel like a loss and left a bitter taste for many.
