Liverpool Steal A March On Arsenal In The Race For €173,000-per-week German Midfielder

Julian Draxler

Liverpool have reportedly moved ahead of their competitors in the race to sign one of the best creative midfielders in Europe. According to Daily Mail, Liverpool have taken a march over their competitors by opening talks to sign Julian Draxler from Paris Saint-Germain.

Isn’t he one of the best young midfielders in the continent? He definitely is, but the arrival of Neymar in the summer has pushed the German towards the exit door at PSG.

Let me explain. The outlay that PSG incurred in the purchase of Neymar and the potential permanent arrival of Kylian Mbappe next season means that the Parisian club has a lot to do to balance their books in order to comply with the UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations.

This means that the club has to sell some players and one of the players who could be leaving is Draxler. The former Wolfsburg player has not been able to fit into Unai Emery’s system ever since Neymar arrived.

With his game time reduced considerably, the German midfielder is looking for a move abroad and the clubs being linked

are Arsenal and Liverpool. These reports indicate that manager Jurgen Klopp is ready to quickly make a move for the signature of Draxler.

I believe that would be a great decision because Draxler will be a wonderful addition to our squad. Even last year when he was a bit-part player, the midfielder scored 10 goals and 2 assists in 25 appearances, most of which came from the bench.

It is a shame that he is surplus to requirements at PSG, but I am not complaining. It is not often that you find a player of the calibre of Draxler be available for a transfer and when they do, clubs should immediately lap up that opportunity.

One problem could be his wages as the midfielder earns €173,000-per-week, which is a little higher than Philippe Coutinho’s weekly wages at Anfield. There could be an inclination to accept a wage cut but would he be receptive to that?

I feel Klopp should make every possible effort to sign this player because he has the ability to be a difference at Anfield.
