Liverpool’s £120,000-a-week Star Is A Surprise Target For Serie A Giants – Italian Reports

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is reportedly being lined up by Italian club AC Milan for a January swoop according to reports from Italian outlet Calciomercato, with the 28-year-old looking at the option of leaving the club in January on loan or permanently to get more game time.

The England international has struggled for form under Jurgen Klopp which has meant that his appearances have been few and far in between. With his chances of representing the country in the 2018 World Cup in Russia hanging in the balance, Sturridge is looking at a move to improve his chances.

This is an interesting move because whatever may be the reason, he is still one of the best in the squad. I believe that Sturridge still has plenty of gas left in his tank and can be a great asset for the side. However, injuries and poor form have seen him play very little in the past one-and-a-half years. He has just managed 17 goals in 54 games, but I would like to believe that he is far better than what the stats show.

That is probably why he is looking to move away from the club and Italian giants AC Milan are looking to make the most of it. There is no confirmation from either party on the nature of the deal or the financials involved. However, one thing is for certain – Milan are ready to explore all possible options including an initial loan deal.

Sturridge, who earns £120,000-a-week, has scored 3 goals in 12 matches in all competitions this season but is some distance away from getting regular game time at the club. Klopp knows that Sturridge is out of contract in the summer but knows that he can’t guarantee him games.

Will he be missed at the club? I feel that Sturridge has a role to play in the club’s fortunes although his injury record is not up to the mark. He has 8 goals in 26 appearances for the Three Lions but has picked up just 18 minutes of playing time since November 2016.

I think it is in his best interests that Sturridge makes a loan move in the winter transfer window.

What do you think?
