Liverpool Handed Massive Transfer Boost As Top Target Hints At Possible January Move

This is sure to drag until January as the transfer news about Leon Goretzka keeps making the headlines. The Schalke midfielder is one of those bargain deals that will be the headline during winter transfer window and next summer. The player has hinted that he will reveal his next move in January – the biggest hint from the midfielder so far that he could be moving abroad next season.

The 22-year-old’s admission that he will know his future in January has raised belief that he will seek to play in a different league and will look for a challenge abroad. After the 2-2 draw with Koln at the weekend, the Bundesliga star spoke about his next step.

“I have to find out for myself what the next step should be,” he said as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“I have to consider a million things. I am a person who is very meticulous in such decisions. I play through all the scenarios. So I need time. There doesn’t exist a deadline, but I think we are in the final phase. The final decision will be made in January.”

The Schalke star will be out of contract at the club next summer and has so far resisted all the efforts of the club to renew his deal. Schalke were ready to give him a huge pay rise, but the exciting midfielder has not given his go-ahead to the club.

The Bundesliga side already lost a player on a Bosman transfer this past summer, as Sead Kolasinac joined Arsenal on a free transfer. Schalke would be loathing the prospect of Arsenal signing another of their top player for free, but it is now out of their hands.

I say this is a bargain deal because it is not every day that you find someone as talented as Goretzka on the market and be available at a cheap price – let alone on a free transfer. This explains the long list of suitors – Juventus, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona.

Will Liverpool be able to move through the crowd and get his signature? It is tough, but I think in Jurgen Klopp, we have one magnet that can attract the German international.

His recent admission has raised the hopes of us seeing him play in the Premier League. The only thing left now is to make him sign the dotted line at Anfield. Considering the furore around Emre Can’s future, this would be the best way to assuage that loss.
