‘We’re a fan-first organisation’ Liverpool Chief Executive Has A Sweet Surprise For The Reds

Liverpool fans might be in for more good news regarding their stadium expansion according to their chief executive Peter Moore.

While the club did renovate their Main Stand to add around 10,000 seats in 2016, Moore recently revealed that the Reds are working on extending their current capacity from just over 54,000.

While speaking to Sky Sports, Moore stated that we could have Anfield holding 60,000 fans in a few years.

The Daily Mail carried the quotes from the chief executive as he also added that the demand for Liverpool tickets is growing on a constant basis.

“As you know we have a permit for the Anfield Road end for September 2019 to add maybe another 6,000 seats which will bring us up to 60,000 here.

“I also know from living here, for every Liverpool ticket there are 10 people who want to buy it.”

Expansion is crucial for Liverpool’s growth

One major problem for Liverpool over the years has been attracting more fans to their legendary stadium, Anfield. Clubs such as Manchester United and Arsenal have invested to make their stadium stand out and have a lot of seats to attract more fans and even create corporate boxes that generates more revenue.

Liverpool would even fall behind Tottenham, who are expected to move into a new state-of-the-art stadium at the start of the next season, which will be built in the place of their old ground, White Hart Lane.

There would be a lot of worried fans too regarding the investment needed for the increased capacity but Moore was quick to point out that the club would actually look at the situation closely and not spend over the odds.

“We’ll look at what investment the ownership needs to put in. We’re a fan-first organisation, I can re-assure people we’re going to look at this on top of everything else we are doing.”

Liverpool have already worked on their Kirkby complex as they look to move away from Melwood. This move also sees the youth team and the first-team players create a better bond but it also has a financial aspect to it.

The Reds do need to bring in more revenue, that is a given, and with FSG already strumming up a lot of corporate tie-ups, the next step is to redevelop Anfield to host 60,000+ fans as we look to win a few titles and hopefully, the Premier League too.
