Liverpool fans hailed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after the Reds midfielder stepped in to interrupt Philippe Coutinho’s post-match interview about a Barcelona transfer.
The Reds ran riot at Vitality Stadium, thrashing hosts Bournemouth 4-0 on Sunday’s late evening kick-off. Coutinho scored his 50th
Liverpool goal to open the scoring before Dejan Lovren’s diving header doubled the advantage.Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino secured the points for a free-scoring Jurgen Klopp’s side, who bounced back from the disappointment of consecutive home draws with Everton and West Brom and moved back into the Premier League’s top four.
After the game, Coutinho and Oxlade-Chamberlain were speaking to the press when the reporter asked the former if he wanted to stay at the club with rumours endemic over a potential move to Barcelona. The playmaker insisted he is currently enjoying his football at Anfield and before the Brazilian could elaborate, Oxlade-Chamberlain interrupted to praise his teammate’s attitude.
“Phil’s a Liverpool player right now and he’s doing really well for us,” the England international was quoted in a report by Liverpool Echo.
“He’s been the most professional player I’ve seen all season.
“He’s been top quality since the start and every time he gets on the pitch he does his all for the club and that’s the most important thing.
“It’s not fair to ask those kinds of questions I don’t think. He gives us his all every match and that’s all we can ask of him,” Chamberlain added.
The Reds faithful were delighted with Oxlade-Chamberlain’s matured actions and expressed their views on Twitter. Here’s how they reacted.
