Transfer News – Liverpool Prepare A Bid To Sign Real Madrid Midfielder Next Month

Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign out-of-favour Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos in the January transfer window. Ceballos only joined the Los Blancos this summer and went on to enhance his budding reputation at the Under-21 European Championships, where he was named as the player of the tournament after helping Spain to the final.

However, the 21-year-old has since failed to establish himself as part of Zinedine Zidane’s first-team plans at the Bernabeu, making only two La Liga starts and just playing 6 times all season, scoring twice.

The Spaniard’s career has failed to progress as rapidly as he would have hoped for since joining from Real Betis and now Diario Gol report Jurgen Klopp’s side are ready to test Real’s resolve in January.

The report adds that Ceballos already regrets joining the European champions and is desperate to secure a move away in January in order to resurrect his stuttering career. It also claims the midfielder’s representatives have asked for him to be allowed to leave when the transfer window opens.

That situation has seen them hold talks with Liverpool and Arsenal over a potential move to the Premier League. Serie A clubs Inter Milan and Roma are also thought to be interested in signing Ceballos, who looks to end his short stay at Real.

It is believed that Ceballos was a signing made by Florentino Perez, rather than manager Zinedine Zidane. And the Real president is among those who believe he can flourish with them, hence any exit for the player is unlikely to happen until the summer.

Ceballos looks like a player with decent potential and he looks like someone who could develop into a solid midfielder from getting regular playing time in the Premier League. However, it remains to be seen how much Liverpool would be willing to gamble on an inexperienced player who hasn’t played much football for Real this season.

The ex-Betis player is a traditional playmaker, creating chances for the team with his sheer tenacity and willingness. He throws himself into tackles, before surging forward with the ball. A never-ending engine allows Ceballos to cover every blade of grass with this high-intensity style for 90 minutes.

This tenacity in the midfielder would attract Klopp, whose Liverpool side are known to play high-octane and quick attacking football.

However, given that the Reds have an array of midfielders with Naby Keita joining next summer, it looks like Ceballos wouldn’t accept a move to a club where he wouldn’t probably be a regular starter.
