Transfer News: £30m-rated Premier League keeper wants Liverpool move ahead of Chelsea

Liverpool might have signed Virgil van Dijk ahead of the winter transfer window but the Reds could be boosted by another player deciding to join the club as Football.London

claims that we could be signing a goalkeeper soon.

The report suggests that Stoke City’s Jack Butland wants to move to Anfield and not to Stamford Bridge. The Blues see the England international as a replacement for Thibaut Courtois who could be looking to join Real Madrid in the summer.

The 24-year-old is regarded as one of the best keepers in the Premier League and has always been one of the players expected to make a jump from Stoke to a bigger club. The report also claims that we might have to spend over £30million to sign the player up, which isn’t all that great given how much we have spent on Van Dijk.

Butland The Solution To Our Goalkeeping Problems?

Well, we have seen how our goalkeepers are always the last line of defence. Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have not looked rock solid this season at all. Mignolet even flapped a couple of times in the 3-3 draw against Arsenal recently, while Karius has struggled to assert himself, even when playing in Champions League games.

Butland is one of the best keepers in the league and he would be a better option to have than both the players. Jurgen Klopp seems to have understood that major changes are required and the goalkeeping department is one to be improved.

The 24-year-old Butland also commands the box well and he would have to communicate a lot with our defence but with Van Dijk joining, we might just have a prominent pair at the back to reduce all those unwanted goals we regularly concede.

If Butland really wants to develop, he should join our side and paying £30million for the 24-year-old would be a wise investment given that he is young and will grow into a better player with the years to come.

This could be the final piece of Klopp’s Jigsaw, looking to challenge for the title and hopefully, we can finalise this deal soon too.
