World Cup winner urges midfielder to quit Liverpool and join him in Italy

Emre Can’s future is still in doubt as no news has come out regarding the player’s move to Juventus on a free transfer. The German is out of contract at the end of the season but he is eligible to negotiate with foreign clubs in the winter window.

There have been a number of reports suggesting that the move to Juventus is all but done and now Sami Khedira has spoken out about his desire to see Can join him at the Serie A club. The World Cup winner joined the Serie A champions from Real Madrid on a free transfer and wants Juventus to do the same with Emre Can.

While talking to Sky Italy (h/t Sky Sports), the former Madrid man said:

“I know Emre very well. First of all Emre is a very good player. He is a young player, he can improve of course, he is powerful and is talented but of course he has to learn.

“And if there is a possibility that Juventus can sign this player you have to use this chance because I think he is a free agent in the summer period. So, if I am a manager, of course I would try and sign him.”

Can could be the second big name player we could lose out in the recent transfer window after selling Philippe Coutinho for a club record to Barcelona. Despite Emre Can being seemingly set for a move away on a free transfer, Jurgen Klopp has stuck with the German and even played him in the recent Merseyside derby win in the FA Cup.

Is Can A Major Loss For Our Side?

Can does provide a lot of bite in the midfield but he has not been the most consistent performer for us this season. The 23-year-old German was great come the end of last season and we did try our best to get him to sign a new contract and remain at the club.

However, with Juventus calling, it was always going to be tough given that the Serie A giants are capable of challenging for the Champions League. Truth be told, Can isn’t as big a loss as it might seem, with Naby Keita coming in soon. But watching Can grow and develop under Klopp could have been something to marvel at in the coming years, which may not happen now.
