Sturridge’s decision would decide 25-year-old Liverpool star’s future at Anfield – reports

Liverpool striker Danny Ings’ desire to leave the Anfield on a temporary basis could be shattered after reports that the club are reluctant to sanction a move following Daniel Sturridge’s potential exit this month. Sturridge, 28, is keen to leave Anfield this month in order to resurrect his stuttering career.

The striker has struggled with recurrent injury problems that have seen his chances of first-team action get hampered. However, the ex-Chelsea striker is keen to move on from Merseyside in order to get regular first-team action in the hope of getting a berth in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup in Russia.

Inter Milan are reportedly interested in signing Sturridge this month. The Serie A outfit want the striker on loan until the end of the current campaign with an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

The BBC report that Inter have offered to pay a “significant but undisclosed” loan fee for the player and are also ready to pay all of his wages. However, Klopp will not try to push the player out this month and is happy for Sturridge to remain at the club. The decision now rests with Sturridge.

Well, Sturridge’s potential exit in the coming days has dented Ings’ chance of securing a move away from Anfield, report the Telegraph. Ings is wanted by a number of clubs who are ready to offer him the much-needed platform to revive his career after suffering two serious knee injuries.

However, the report suggests that Liverpool are worried they will be left with very limited attacking firepower if Roberto Firmino suffers an injury post the winter transfer window without Sturridge in the team. Ings has struggled to make an impact since attaining full fitness, having played just 11 minutes of Premier League football this term.

The 25-year-old is hungry to play regularly under Klopp but given Firmino’s fantastic performances this season, it looks highly unlikely. It is Ings’ third season at Anfield and the fact that he has just made 8 Premier League appearances so far tells the sad story of the player who steered Burnley to the top-flight a couple of seasons ago.

To be honest, if Sturridge leaves our club this month, it could prove to be a boon for Ings as he would be promoted up the pecking order.
