Liverpool FC Deadline Day Updates

Liverpool have not had the best of transfer windows as we lost Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona but we did sign Virgil van Dijk for £75m from Southampton.

The real kicker has been sending out Daniel Sturridge on loan to West Bromwich Albion and many Liverpool fans would want Jurgen Klopp to sign someone but the boss does not want to make any rash signings in the winter window.

Nevertheless, the winter window is still open and here are some players that could be on the move or not.

Danny Ings

The former Burnley man has not scored for us this season and had been linked with moves to Newcastle but Klopp stated that the player is not going anywhere, and was quoted by the ESPN as saying:

“No chance. We will see what happens. There’s no chance Ingsy is on the market tomorrow. Only if I’m unconscious!

“But yeah, maybe something happens, that is possible. We will see.”

With Sturridge gone, we will have to keep hold of Ings as the Englishman and Dominic Solanke are our only cover options for the impressive Roberto Firmino, who scored in our 3-0 win over Swansea.

Lazar Markovic

The Serbian is another player that has not received a lot of game time this season and was expected to join Swansea on a permanent deal but Wolfsburg, who also have Divock Origi on loan are said to be interested in the winger as the Daily Mail

Markovic was also on loan at Hull City last season and with Sporting Lisbon earlier. His future is not at Liverpool, that is a given, and hopefully, he will find the right club and resurrect his career.

Emre Can

The German seems set to move to Juventus at the end of the season on a free but he did say, after the win against Huddersfield, that he is still committed to Liverpool and was coy on his move away from Anfield.

“I’ve said 100 times I think, I have a contract here and I’ll give my all but my future is with my agent.”

Klopp also added his points on Can’s future but the former Bayer Leverkusen man seems a goner.

“Sometimes you want to sell a player, sometimes you want to keep a player. But if every player behaves like Emre, that’s fine.”

Losing Can would be a big blow for us as he still is young and could become one of the best in the world.

Unfortunately, it seems the window is going to a really quite one and for most Liverpool fans that will be a bit of a downer.

We need to be fighting for a top-four spot and with all our competitors adding quality to their side, our top four chances might have gotten a whole lot tougher.
