Liverpool are trying to lure away Jack Wilshere to Anfield from Arsenal by offering him better contract terms, according to reports. The 26-year-old is out of contract at the Emirates at the end of this season and is currently in talks with Arsenal about a new improved deal.

Arsene Wenger knows that the midfielder will become a free agent in the summer and hence wants to tie the player down to a new improved deal. According to Metro, Wilshere is adamant about staying put at Arsenal but is unhappy with the terms he has been offered by the club, resulting in the delay to sign a new deal.

Due to Wilshere’s recurrent injury problems since breaking through the academy ranks, Arsenal have offered a new deal which reportedly represents a hefty pay cut- although there will be a chance for the player to earn more through bonuses based on his individual performances, achievements and appearances.

This seems to have reached Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s ears and he is doing everything possible to bring Wilshere to Anfield. The report adds that Klopp would love to work with the player and that the Reds are prepared to match Wilshere’s current salary of £90,000-a-week.

Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made the switch to Liverpool at the start of the season and Wilshere could follow suit if the Gunners fail to make alterations to the terms and the overall package they have currently offered.

It would be a huge blow for Wenger should he lose Wilshere for free in the summer, and if the player teams up with Chamberlain at Liverpool, it could turn out to be more misery for the Arsenal faithful. With Emre Can out of contract in the summer, he is expected to leave Anfield at the end of the season. Klopp could probably have started eyeing a replacement and seems to have identified Wilshere as an exciting option.

Wilshere, who has made 24 appearances for Arsenal so far this season, amassing 2 goals and 5 assists would be a fantastic signing for us. Some of the England international’s playmaking is a delight to watch as he would get a chance to improve his game under the attentive eyes of Klopp.

If Wilshere can keep his injury problems at bay, he would represent a real steal for us in the summer.
