Liverpool line up £54million move for PL midfielder with most tackles per 90 mins this season

Liverpool could be in the market for a quality midfielder next season and reports suggest that we could be signing Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City.

The 21-year-old was brought in by Leicester as a replacement for N’Golo Kante a season back and even though he had a tough start to his career in England, the Nigerian has come up leaps and bounds and is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

The New Telegraph, which is a paper from Nigeria, claims that we will be looking to pay around $75million (£54million) for the 21-year-old. The report also says that Jurgen Klopp has been impressed with the midfielder and is looking to shell out the amount for the player who is one of the rising stars in the league.

A Defensive Midfielder Is A Requirement But Is Ndidi The Right Man?

With us set to lose Emre Can at the start of the next season, we will be in the market for another midfielder, that is a given. The important thing to see is if we would get someone like Ndidi, who has done well this season.

Ndidi does have the most number of tackles made per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season according to the report but he might not be the right option given that we will have to spend around £54million on someone who has had only one decent season under his belt.

One thing is a given – we will spend money on players who we deem fit for the cause and the best examples are Virgil van Dijk, Sadio Mane and even Mohamed Salah. Mane and Salah have more than lived up to their price tag and Van Dijk has done well too.

Ndidi might be a shrewd signing if we don’t have to shell out the £54million that is quoted for his services and hopefully, at the start of next season, we will have a few quality additions that can take our side to the next level.
