Reputed Italian agent claims €40m worth Liverpool midfielder is set to leave Anfield in the summer

Emre Can

Emre Can will leave Liverpool in the summer, according to respected Italian agent Federico Pastorello, who claims midfielder has sanctioned a transfer to Juventus. The German becomes a free agent when his contract expires in June and is highly likely to leave the club at the end of the season.

Talks of contract renewal between Liverpool and Can have been going on for a long time but so far they are yet to reach an agreement. As Can has entered the final six months of his contract, he is allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club.

The midfielder has been tipped to sign for Juventus on a free transfer when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

“Juve tried to sign Emre Can in January, but from what I hear, he is certainly going to be their player next season,” Pastorello told Rai Sport (h/t Juvefc.com).

“The rumours I am party to say that the player wants to join Juventus. I think it’s wise, because Juve are certainly the most international Italian club at the moment.

“Emre Can would be a great addition, as he is a player worth €40m on the market, so getting him for free deserves credit.”

During the winter transfer window, Can had admitted that his failure to commit his future to Liverpool was not driven by money.

“It is not about money, that’s all I can say,” Can was quoted by the Daily Mail.

“Yes I could [sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club] but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool. We’ll see.”

Federico Pastorello is a reliable and renowned agent in Italy and going by his words, it is clear that Can is heading to Juventus once his contract expires in the summer.

Klopp would have loved to keep the midfielder at Anfield, with the German manager earlier expressing his wish to see the player sign an extension with the club.

“Emre is here in the moment and that is the most important thing,” Klopp was quoted by the Express.

“We have to create a situation where players want to stay – that’s all we can do as a club, as a team and me as a manager. For me, there is no problem if Emre plays like he is in the moment.”

It is high time now that Klopp and Liverpool start planning for life without Can, especially with the transfer window set to reopen in a few months’ time.
