Liverpool interested in world-class 29-year-old Bayern Munich superstar – Chelsea in the race too

Robert Lewandowski

Liverpool are reportedly hoping that Robert Lewandowski leaves Bayern Munich to challenge himself in the Premier League. After joining Munich from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, Lewandowski has come to be regarded as one of the deadliest finishers in world football and has also helped Munich to win three Premier League titles.

However, the 29-year-old faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena and has been tipped to link up with either us, Chelsea or Manchester City.

What could work in our favour is the fact that by joining us, Lewandowski could reunite with Jurgen Klopp who he previously worked with at Dortmund. However, at the same time, by joining us, he could struggle to earn regular game time considering that the likes of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah are all doing what is required from them.

In addition to this, he is also likely to demand a lot of wages and we could be better off channelling this money towards improving our defence and goalkeeping department which has been guilty of misfiring when it matters.

After spending most of his career thus far in Germany, Lewandowksi is reportedly ‘flirting’ with the idea of coming to the Premier League. Earlier this month, Lewandowski spoke positively off Klopp, saying

:

“He was the one who gave me belief,” Lewandowski earlier told the Daily Mail.

“In the first three or four months in training, we would have this game — him against the striker. There would be a bet between me and him.

“In the first few training sessions, he was always winning! After that, not so much! Every time after, he lost! He didn’t want to play anymore! It was €50 a game and by the end I had a positive balance! But I saw for the first time with him how important it was [to] train.

“I saw what I have to do on the pitch when I don’t have the ball. You look at Liverpool now and how they play with the pressing. That is what I learned from him.

“He also improved my finishing. When I came to Dortmund, it wasn’t so good. He told me to improve. He showed me what I had to do.”

Lewandowski is a top class striker and there’s no doubt about it. If he arrives, it would mean us breaking the partnership of our famed trio. Would Klopp go for this? I don’t think so!
