“Get him signed up”, “Man is a machine!!” Liverpool fans heap praise on Reds’ POTM for January

Roberto Firmino has been announced Liverpool’s Standard Chartered Player of the Month for January. The Brazilian forward beat Mohamed Salah in the online poll after scoring 3 goals in 6 appearances last month.

Salah, who has won the award four times already in his debut season with the Reds, finished just behind Firmino in the January poll, while summer signing Andy Robertson claimed third place. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Emre Can took the fourth and fifth spots respectively.

This was only the second time Firmino has won the award, having also bagged it for his performances in January 2016.

After receiving the award, the 26-year-old told Liverpoolfc.com

:

“I am very happy to receive this prize for being the Player of the Month and I hope to win more awards during this season. I am very happy for the fans voting for me.”

All of the three goals Firmino scored in January were of a different class. The Brazilian classically dinked over goalkeeper Ederson in Liverpool’s exhilarating 4-3 win over league leaders Manchester City and also finished coolly against West Brom before scoring in the 3-0 victory against Huddersfield Town.

“My favourite one was against Manchester City. Particularly because of the game that the team played, the whole performance that we achieved on that day to win the match,” our No.9 answered when asked which one he enjoyed scoring the most.

Liverpool took to their official Twitter account to congratulate Firmino and also posted a small video of his goals from last month. Here is how our fanbase reacted to it.
