Liverpool are already in ‘advanced’ talks to seal record transfer deal by a British club

Liverpool’s interest in acquiring AS Roma keeper Alisson Becker has been well documented given that the Reds pursued the Brazilian primarily during the January transfer window. The Anfield hierarchy even saw an official bid getting rejected for the Brazilian given that the Italian capital club wanted £44 million in return for their prized asset.

The tables, however, have turned and the Reds are well and truly expected to launch another bid over the summer, and if the reports are to be believed, they won’t find landing Alisson hard at Merseyside as the Brazilian has made moving to Anfield his ‘top priority.’

Jurgen Klopp’s desire of signing Alisson over the winter transfer window outlined the fact that he has finally prioritised signing a long-term stopper and the upcoming transfer window could well and truly provide him with the opportunity he is looking for. But then again, signing the Brazilian won’t be a walk in the park given that the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are keen as well.

But the Brazilian website UOL Esporte claims that the Merseysiders are in ‘advanced’ talks with the shot-stopper. The same source, however, also adds that the projection of Alisson’s move is the fact that his transfer would make him the most expensive goalkeeper in the Premier League. Manchester City’s Ederson Moraes currently holds the title of being the most expensive keeper when he moved to the Etihad from Benfica for £34.7million

.

Alisson has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper at AS Roma and has played every single minute of their Serie A campaign, keeping 11 clean sheets in the process.

Only a couple of days before the eleventh hour of the January transfer window, the Brazilian was quipped about the idea of moving to the Premier League and although he insisted he is happy in Italy, he kept the doors open for future offers.

“I am happy in Rome,” Alisson told Sky Italia.

“It’s always a pleasure to feel that lots of people are monitoring you but my head is focused on Roma. I leave my future in the hands of God.

“In June, maybe we will speak about it again but for now I am concentrated on Roma.”

As things stand for Jurgen Klopp, the German has rotated both Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius at times, but it is the latter who has now played in their last seven Premier League fixtures and has performed admirably well, to say the least. So if Alisson does arrive, it is safe to assume that Mignolet will have to find a place he can call home.
