Liverpool find out Serie A target’s release clause – Juventus are interested as well

Rumours are back! They took a break for a month just after the January transfer window, and they are back hitting the headlines across the globe. Fortunately for the Liverpool fans, there is nothing related to Mohamed Salah’s link with Real Madrid or anything, but it is actually regarding a potential return of a former sensation.

Since the £142 million departure of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, Liverpool have been linked with a host of attacking players and now a new name has popped out. Well, to be fair, it’s not a new one for Liverpool supporters. Remember Suso, who made near to 20 appearances for us without scoring a goal? Well of course you do. The Spaniard, who is performing out of his skin with AC Milan, is now linked with a return to Anfield.

Liverpool, over the previous transfer windows, have been linked with the likes of Thomas Lemar and Christian Pulisic and while these two are becoming more of a ‘dreamy’ targets, a report from Calciomercato

has credited the Reds with an interest for Suso. Suso joined Liverpool Academy at a very young age and on his 17th birthday, his exploits earned him his first professional contract.

But by 2013, Liverpool acquired the services of Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho which saw Suso getting a block towards establishing himself in the first-team. Just before the 2013/14 season, he was loaned out to Almeria in La Liga and in January 2015, AC Milan signed him up on a four-year deal.

The Spaniard, by now, has established himself as an integral part of the Milan squad and this saw him being awarded with a new contract back in December 2017. So now according to Calciomercato, if Liverpool tend to acquire him over the summer, they need to spend as much as €40 million, as the figure is now his release clause.

But then again, signing him now won’t be a walk in the park as the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan are interested as well. Only a few days back, the 24-year-old revealed that Inter made an offer for him over the summer, but since his mind is focused on staying with Milan, he decided to sign a new contract.

“Over the summer, Inter did make me an offer,” confessed the Spaniard to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I had just changed my agent and they spoke to him. I don’t know what Milan told my agent, but I had a very clear idea of what I wanted: to stay here and renew my contract.

“I could’ve left even without renewing the deal, but I am happy here. Of course, nothing is ‘for life’ in football, but it’s important to end the season on a high.”

Described by many as a “technically gifted left-footed player,” Suso has scored eight goals in 36 appearances for Milan this season and it now remains to be seen whether he actually makes his mind of moving away or not.
