Jurgen Klopp Drops Major Transfer Hint As Monaco Star Gets Linked With Move To Anfield

Much like the rest of us, Jurgen Klopp has not been a happy camper after the 2-1 loss at the hands of Manchester United. Liverpool looked bereft of ideas to break down the opposition defence and the lack of clear-cut opportunities has opened up a can of worms about the German looking to bid big for the right kind of player, akin to what we did for Virgil van Dijk.

Thomas Lemar has been consistently linked with a move to the Reds, especially after the sale of Philippe Coutinho. The Frenchman hasn’t played all that well for Monaco this season but that has not stopped Le 10 Sport from suggesting that we are ready to move for him even though his price could be around £90million.

Klopp was recently quoted by the Independent stating that the Van Dijk signing was not a one-off situation and that if the player fits into the team, the club will pay the price.

“If the player is the right player this club will pay big money.

“When the player is the right player it is not important how expensive he was. He needs to fit in the team, that’s why we paid the price (for Van Dijk).”

Lemar has only scored twice this season for the Ligue 1 club but has seven assists to his name in 21 league games. That might not be the best record but if we do sign him up, Klopp will ensure we get to see the best out of the 22-year-old.

Do we need another attacker?

This might be the most pertinent question regarding next season’s transfer policy. With us doing well with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, our front three is locked out with no place for another attacker.

Lemar, however, can play in the midfield and with his range of passing, he could do a job similar to Coutinho’s, when it comes to slicing open defences who play deep.

We saw the same problem at Old Trafford on Saturday as we seemed to be missing a killer through ball and that could have been done by the young Frenchman. Liverpool have shown that they can pay the big bucks for a player that they want and if Klopp believes that Lemar is the man, we should be seeing the 22-year-old as a Liverpool star next season.
