Jurgen Klopp provides latest update on Adam Lallana’s injury and it’s not good news

According to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, the prognosis to Adam Lallana’s injury is ‘not good’ after the midfielder left Selhurst Park on crutches.

Lallana limped off the pitch just five minutes after replacing Gini Wijnaldum as a substitute as Klopp opted for an attacking change with the score tied 1-1 in the second-half. But our manager was forced to replace the 29-year-old shortly.

The England international has spent most of the time on the sidelines with a thigh injury this season, making just 13 appearances in all competitions so far. The Liverpool Echo reports that Lallana was seen leaving the stadium on crutches.

“I’ve not spoken to him, but I’ve seen him and it is not good,” Klopp said in his post-match press conference, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“We don’t know exactly what he has (it’s a hamstring injury) but from the first moment I saw him go down it looked like something really serious.

“It looks like something with the muscle, we can’t make any further assessments so far. We will do that as quick as possible.”

Lallana will surely miss out Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg clash against Manchester City, reports the Liverpool Echo.

After being sidelined until last November due to a thigh injury sustained in the pre-season, Lallana appears to have suffered another setback. The midfielder has started just one Premier League game all season and has only completed 90 minutes just once.

It is a cruel blow to Lallana, whose chances of making Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup in Russia are looking slim,

to say the least. Let’s hope Lallana recovers swiftly from the fresh injury he suffered at Selhurst Park.
