Liverpool plotting move for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma – Italian reports

According to Italian news outlet Calciomercato (h/t the Express), Liverpool are plotting a move for AC Milan youngster, Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Jurgen Klopp is potentially on the lookout for goalkeeping reinforcements this summer following the stuttering form of both Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet, the report claims.

The Reds still have cash left over from the £142million sale of Philippe Coutinho in January and an addition of a reliable new goalkeeper could transform us into title challengers next campaign.

As per the Express, Roma star Alisson Becker and Stoke City shot-stopper Jack Butland have been on Liverpool’s radar.

However, as per Calciomercato (h/t the Express), it now appears that the Merseysiders could make a sensational swoop for AC Milan stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Milan youngster has already won five caps for Italy, despite being just 19-years-old. The report adds that Donnarumma, who is represented by super-agent Mino Raiola, was the subject of a transfer saga before he signed a new deal worth more than £5m-a-year with AC Milan.

Only last month, former Anfield hero Steve Nicol suggested that Liverpool should try and sign Donnarumma.

“To be honest I think Liverpool should go and see if they can either get a No 1 or have somebody who’s on a level with [Loris] Karius,” Nicol was quoted by the Express.

“[Simon] Mignolet isn’t, he’s clearly the No 2 and I think what Mignolet’s doing is waiting to see if he can get a game in the World Cup.

“[Thibaut] Courtois has had a couple of injury nicks recently and a good World Cup would mean Mignolet is in the shop window and he could get himself a good move.”

AC Milan’s boy wonder, Gianluigi Donnaruma is considered as one of the top young shot-stoppers in Europe. The Italian has quickly gained attention and has been singled out for praise by many renowned figures in the world of football.

Talking about Liverpool, Karius has been in a really good form of late. The German’s confidence has been boosted by a number of top displays between the sticks and therefore, Klopp must wait until the end of the season before making a move for a new goalkeeper.
