Mohamed Salah
The mere mention of Mohamed Salah’s name is more than enough to put a smile on most of our faces. The Egyptian is possibly enjoying the best form of his career and he has played an exemplary role for us throughout this season. Suffice to say, we owe most of our success to his heroics in front of the goal and he seems to show no signs of slowing down.
As a reward for his efforts, Salah has received numerous accolades and in a recent interview with Liverpool’s official website, our Egyptian marvel got candid as he spoke about his sensational form and goalscoring exploits.
“It means a lot. I try to score every game to help the team and to get the points,” said Salah.
He recently hit the 40-goal mark for the season and there is no doubt that he will be crucial for us in the games to come. However, Salah showcased his modesty as he credited his teammates for the good fortune.
“That is the most important thing for us, that we play as a team, as 11 players, and so each goal for me is to help the team. It is a great feeling, of course it is a great feeling, but in the end I am just happy to score and help the team.”
When asked about Liverpool’s chances in the Champions League and his chances of winning the coveted Golden Boot, Salah said
:“If I had a choice between the Champions League and the Golden Boot, then of course it would be the Champions League, no doubt the Champions League. To win the Champions League is huge for everyone. I don’t care about the rest.”
For a player to put the team ahead of his own personal glory is truly incredible and that defines Salah. Maybe this is why he is such a loved figure even among the fans of other clubs. Modesty and commitment can take a player farther than flashy cars and hairstyles and this sets Salah apart from most of his contemporaries.
When asked if he could beat club legend Rush’s incredible record of 47 goals in the 1983-84 season, Salah admitted that the margin was very close. Nevertheless, one cannot deny that the attacker is enjoying a magnificent debut season so far.
It is safe to say that we have unearthed a gem in the form of Salah and full credit to Klopp for bringing him to Anfield.
Liverpool have their work cut out in the Champions League but as long as we have Salah in our team, I think we will make it to Kiev for the final.
