As per a report from The Mirror, Mohamed Salah could faced a devastating three-match ban after allegedly aiming his fist at Stoke City defender Bruno Martins-Indi during Liverpool’s encounter against Stoke this past weekend.
The report claims that there is video footage to suggest that the player lashed out with his left arm after a challenge from Martins-Indi. The game ended in a 0-0 stalemate and the result could affect our chances of securing a top-four finish.
The Mirror has gone on to state that the incident remained unnoticed by officials at the time of the match but Salah could be in trouble if the FA chooses to take action.
At present, Salah is a top contender to secure the coveted Golden Boot award at the end of the season but if the ban does happen, it would be a splendid chance for Harry Kane to stake a claim.
It remains to be seen how things play out but more than the Golden Boot fiasco, Salah’s absence could truly dent our chances of securing a Champions League finish. Manchester United are ahead of us by 5 points while Tottenham Hotspur are behind by 4.
If Spurs manage to win their next couple of games, we could be in trouble. Furthermore, we have a game against Chelsea coming up and as seen in the goalless draw against Stoke, Liverpool need all 3 members of their attacking trio to work wonders.
Without Sadio Mane, Salah and Roberto Firmino struggled majorly but considering the Egyptian’s massive influence, his absence could cost us dearly against the defending champions.
