Steven Gerrard is officially the new manager of Scottish giants Rangers, according to the Guardian. The former Liverpool captain was in charge of the U18 at the Merseyside club but this offer seemed to be too good to resist.
The Champions League winner will be joined by another former Red in the form of Gary McAllister and he is expected to sign a four-year deal with the Ibrox club.
Gerrard had been linked with other moves in the lower leagues from England but he learned more about management at his boyhood club, Liverpool. Considering he will face Brendan Rodgers as Celtic’s manager, there is no doubt that he will have to face an uphill task at Rangers.
The Hoops picked up another Scottish Premiership and they have been in excellent form under the former Liverpool manager.
Rodgers almost won the title with the Reds a few years ago but we fell agonizingly short and maybe Gerrard can finally pick up a league title with Rangers. However, it will take some work to defeat Celtic in the league.
