AS Roma manager Eusebio Di Francesco has hinted that the club can replace Liverpool target Alisson but also expects the Brazilian keeper to stay with the Serie A side beyond the summer.
The keeper had been linked with a move away from the Roma club for a while and we have been in the race for the 25-year-old, who will be going to Russia as a part of the Brazil squad.
Di Francesco was quoted by The Express as saying:
“I am relaxed, as Monchi and Morgan De Sanctis can replace him easily.
“Look, nothing is definitive in football, but I am convinced that from what I can tell that Alisson will remain here at Roma.
“We must be careful about the market and the management of the next season. We still have to improve but the beauty of having revived enthusiasm will be a good start for next year.”
Liverpool did some stellar business with the Serie A side at the start of last season as they picked up Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian marvel has ended up winning the Golden Boot in the Premier League and has been one huge reason why we have made it to the Champions League final.
Alisson has been one of the best keepers in the Serie A this season and our problems with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have kept us in the hunt for a new keeper.
Even though Karius has become our No.1 this season, he is still not the finished product. Alisson would certainly not come on the cheap and given that we bought Salah from Roma, the Italian club will want to ensure they get the right value for their keeper too should any club try to sign him up.
It will also be interesting to see just how Alisson does in the World Cup and if the Brazilian does have another good tournament in Russia, there will be a number of clubs looking to sign him up for big money.
