‘Excited’ Jurgen Klopp oozes confidence ahead Liverpool’s Champions League final

Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp took part in what could have been his most important press conference till date as Liverpool boss, as his side trained ahead of their clash against Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

The Reds overcame AS Roma in the semi-final to set up the clash at Kiev and this could be the chance for Klopp to win his first piece of silverware since taking over as Liverpool boss almost three years ago.

The German has not had the best record with us when it comes to cup finals, having lost the previous two but this season has been different, thanks to the crazy form of Mohamed Salah and how well we have played throughout the campaign.

Klopp was quoted by the Liverpool Echo as he out-laid his plans on how to get the team ready for the big clash.

“The way we finished the season and the time we’ve had to prepare for the final. We didn’t have to press everything into three sessions or rush things. From tomorrow on we have three more sessions.”

While Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Gomez are out for the season, there has been a lot of talk about the return of Emre Can and even though the German has been linked

with a move to Juventus, Klopp was bullish on the former Bayer Leverkusen returning in time to play the final.

The German stated that Can would be assessed tomorrow and then a decision would be taken over his participation. Klopp was also happy to see the fans excited ahead of the final in Kiev.

“We’ve enjoyed getting to the final, the home crowd was really good. If you go on Wikipedia and Google and type in ‘European nights’ the answer should be Anfield and that’s cool.”

The German also spoke about our intent going into the game and said that we were brave against Man City, before speaking about our final league game of the season against Brighton.

“You cannot go into a football game without realising that you could lose it. I’ve experienced that too much in my life but I’m still alive and enjoy it.

“It was not easy to be brave against Man City and Roma but the boys did it and were always in the game. For Brighton I wished we could have bought a 1-0 and gone home but now I’m really excited.”

Klopp ended the press conference by speaking about how big the game is and how important this match would be for the fans.

Hopefully, the team can pick up the big win over Madrid and finish the season in unbelievable fashion. No one expected us to reach the final but here we are, ready to go for one of the biggest nights of our lives.
