Here’s how the Liverpool stars fared in the Champions League final defeat – Karius 0/10, Salah 4/10

Full Time: Real Madrid 3-1 Liverpool

Liverpool’s hopes of winning a 6th European Cup were destroyed by inept goalkeeping from Loris Karius as the German let in two goals which should have been saved.

Things didn’t start all that well for the Reds as Mohamed Salah had to be taken off after Sergio Ramos tackled him in the 28th minute.

The madness started in the second half as Karius tried to throw the ball out but Karim Benzema was nearby to deflect the ball into the net.

Sadio Mane gave us hope with a goal from a corner but Gareth Bale scored a wonderful overhead goal before Karius let a shot in from Bale, which he should have saved easily.

This was a disappointing end to the season for the Reds.

Liverpool Player Ratings

Loris Karius – 0/10

What can we say! Karius was horrible as he let Benzema score and then let Bale score his second as he simply let the ball go in. A terrible showing by the young keeper.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7/10

The youngster actually did really well in keeping Cristiano Ronaldo quiet throughout the game and had a number of quality tackles, though he was a bit lacking in the attacking third.

Dejan Lovren – 8/10

Rock solid against one of the best attacks in the world, Lovren cannot be faulted for any of the goals and he did his best to keep Benzema and Ronaldo quiet. The Croatian also had the assist that got us back into the match.

Virgil van Dijk – 8/10

The leader from the back, Van Dijk too did not put a foot wrong in the game.

Andy Robertson – 8/10

Robertson too was excellent at the back and had a couple of tackles too, denying Ronaldo a certain goal on an occasion.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 6/10

Wijnaldum didn’t have the greatest time in midfield but the Dutchman tried his best to get into the game.

Jordan Henderson – 6/10

Henderson too didn’t have a good time in the midfield and things could have been different had Salah stayed on.

James Milner – 7/10

The Englishman did his best and tried to cut out the Madrid attacks but it just was not his day. Milner did put a couple of good crosses in but was replaced by Emre Can in the second half.

Mohamed Salah – 4/10

Salah started brightly but had to come off at the half-hour mark after a rugby style tackle from Sergio Ramos.

Sadio Mane – 8/10

The one attacker that had a good game. Mane was electric throughout and scored the equaliser for us but we could not use his pace for the rest of the game.

Roberto Firmino – 6/10

The Brazilian was excellent at the start as he intercepted a number of passes from Madrid but once Salah was taken off, Firmino just could not get into the game.

Substitutes

Adam Lallana – 5/10

Lallana ran a lot but could not get into the game as this was just his second match after coming back from injury.

Emre Can – N/A

Can didn’t have time to do much in the game as he came on late to replace a tired James Milner.
