Egypt had to suffer a heartbreak as they battled hard but lost their opening game of the World Cup, thanks to a late headed goal from Jose Gimenez.
The African side was a match for the South Americans in the first half, even without Mohamad Salah, who was on the bench. However, the Egyptians did ride their luck as Edinson Cavani hit the post from a free-kick and even saw a wonderful volley saved by the keeper.
However, losing to a goal in the dying minutes would be hard to digest for most of the players but their efforts were certainly appreciated by many across the world.
